“ In an unassuming and a bit run down plaza what is hidden is a popular Taiwanese bubble tea chain’s first ever US location. Hechalou uses high quality Taiwanese tea. The premium loose leaves are brewed using traditional techniques. Their drinks aren’t too sweet either which is a big plus. The interior decor and layout is interesting. The green walls are definitely striking. The odd empty space on the sides and the store-like front inside the store is definitely different. Some of the decor like the old school rotary dial phone prop are cute. It’s a grab and go type of place. The service is extremely friendly and welcoming. That being said, the drinks did take a long time despite it not being busy when we went. Overall, if you want to get some authentic Taiwanese tea, you should check out Hechalou. Not sure it delivers on the extreme social media hype it garnered but it’s a solid 4.5 stars. ”

“ Their menu was quite lengthy with tons of options including for the toppings. I got their Daydream Milk Tea, which was their version of milk tea with bold smokey tea with hint of caramel. I went for soy milk, which I thought went well as it let the tea flavor stood out strong. 30% ice and 4 out of 5 sweetness level turned impressive for me. I knew people loved their rich options of toppings including peculiar ones like black sesame jelly and black tea jelly, but I went for neither as I was in the boat of toppingless milk tea. ”

“ Had this place saved for a bit because I heard their jellies are unique and delicious. They definitely are! And the tea is strong and high quality. We got the Taiwanese milk tea and matcha latte. Both were very good! ”

“ Didnt get to try it in Taiwan so made the journey to long beach to try it. They hype has definitely died. I entered midday Saturday and did not have to wait to order! Got the traditional milk tea with their house signature tea jelly. I loved the tea jellies in taiwan and this was reminiscent of it. However I thought the milk tea tasted a little watered down and could use more tea aroma. ”

“ We discovered this Tea Shop in Instagram, and drove more than 40 mins to give a try. Decoration is nice, the dark green color looks great, and the instructions make professional. We ordered 6 cups, Boba tea, green tea latte, black sugar Boba tea, and fruit tea. They were good, but not too special as the Instagram shows. ”

“ I will say, it's a funny little setup. no chairs inside. just a storefront that has a fun aesthetic. you can sample toppings, I recommend doing so! got the classic Vietnamese milk tea with their classic jelly at 75% sweet- honestly I think 100% sweet would've been a bit better as it was very muted in sweetness. the different jellies were fun, I think I'd get the matcha jelly next time. I wasn't fully blown away by the tea, maybe because of the sweetness (they recommended 75%), but I don't know. It wasn't the strongest flavor. ”

“ Friendly staff and everything is good. Got to sample different flavors. I liked the mango slushy and the orange one too especially the fresh black tea jelly they make in-house fresh! I got the lime orchid green tea and I loved it I got a second to go. 10 out of 10 recommend! ”

“ The best authentic Taiwanese boba!!! Well.if you dont like the taste of strong tea, then this place is not for you. I got the lychee signature, level 2 + boba and aloe = yummiest. The 2nd drink is got Taiwanese classic millk tea. This is the bomb! Tea taste is ON point! Love it. Definitely will be my favorite place for sure. The good thing is not closed by my house. Otherwise, I will make pit stop daily, lol! ”
